The Microbe 3D Model Bundle includes the following cells:
• Bacteria 3D Model
• Virus (Bacteriophage) 3D Model
The NGS Magnified Microbe 3D Model Bundle makes use of the NGSS Science and Engineering Process, it also supports the following targeted performance standard from the NGSS:
MS-LS1-2. Develop and use a model to describe the function of a cell as a whole and ways the parts of cells contribute to the function
MS-LS4-5. Gather and synthesize information about technologies that have changed the way humans influence the inheritance of desired traits in organisms.
HS-LS1-2. Develop and use a model to illustrate the hierarchical organization of interacting systems that provide specific functions within multicellular organisms.
Modeling can begin in the earliest grades, with students’ models progressing from concrete “pictures” and/or physical scale models to more abstract representations of relevant relationships in later grades. (NRC Framework, 2012, p. 58)
Along with the model activity, the following is included in this download:
- Background of developing and using models in the science classroom
- Teacher Guide (with colored photos) of building the NGS Magnified models
- Template for optional pocket to hold brochure/model key
- Template for correct sizing of brochure and model key
- Two options for models – one with and one without labels
- A fully labeled Spanish version of this 3D model is also included in this product, making it ideal for bilingual learning or Spanish-speaking students
